Author Kathy Nickels
Date 8 April 2024
The ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S) is thrilled to announce that the 2024 ADM+S Symposium: Automated Mobilities will be held at UNSW, Kensington campus, Sydney from Tuesday 15 – Thursday 17 October 2024.
The main symposium will highlight the challenges and opportunities of AI and automated decision-making in mobilties. ADM+S members will share, explore, create and connect on related work developed by researchers, partners and communities across the Centre.
The 2024 symposium will advance and open up our Mobilities agenda to create a vibrant new space for discussion, debate and creating new outcomes and impact for our ADM+S work. It brings together the new knowledge and insight generated through ADM+S Phase 1 projects to create a new interdisciplinary prism to view, comprehend and shape ADM in mobilities.
We are excited at the prospect of seeing the interfaces between ADM+S research into the diverse but interconnected questions of public and private transport and automobilities, active and micromobilities, drones and other airborne mobilities, waste trucks, logistics workers and materials, mobility test beds, surveillance tech, and migration.
At this symposium participants will:
- Share new insights and knowledge from research connected to the Mobilities focus area conducted during Phase 1 of the Centre,
- Create and develop traditional and novel research outputs for publication (e.g publications for special issue journals or an edited book, poster presentations)
The symposium will include collaborative workshops, interactive experiences, film screenings, tours and discussions.
The 3 day program includes:
- Day 1: Satellite events, HDR/ECR workshop, CI meetings, evening event with research posters
- Day 2: 2024 ADM+S Symposium: Automated Mobilities and evening public event
- Day 3: Whole-of-Centre Phase 2 project workshops
The symposium working group is inviting submissions for the symposium in the form of working papers (traditional papers), non-traditional outputs (such as creative practice, documentary or other outputs), and research posters. Submissions are due 20 May 2024.
ADM+S HDR students are invited to submit posters contributing insights into AI and automation resulting from current ADM+S research thesis. Submissions for the HDR student poster competition are due 23 September 2024.
For further information visit the 2024 ADM+S Symposium event page.
The Whole-of-Centre Phase 2 workshops will provide dedicated time for Phase 2 project teams to meet and make progress toward their objectives. These workshops are for CIs, PIs, AIs, directly involved postdocs/students, and representatives of partner organisations who are involved in the projects and attending the symposium.
The 3-day symposium program will be available in August 2024.
