ADM+S researchers Edward Small, Assoc Prof Jeffrey Chan, Dr Kacper Sokol, Prof Flora Salim and Daniel Manning have received the People’s Choice Award for their poster ‘When Fairness Becomes Unfair’ at CReD’22.
‘When Fairness Becomes Unfair’ covers numerically optimising a pre-fitted model for group and individual fairness. It’s based on a forthcoming paper by the research team, Two Birds with One Stone: Extending Group Fairness to Individuals through Post-processing.
“Given the depth and strength of the research being done by the academics at CIDDA, we were ecstatic to be voted the Peoples’ Choice. A special thank you goes to Patricia Summers who assisted with the overall design and aesthetic of the poster,” said lead author Edward Small.
CReD’22 is a student-led, annual event that showcases the research potential of research students and academic staff. It is hosted by RMIT University’s Centre for Information Discovery and Data Analytics (CIDDA) that specialises in developing new approaches to find relevant information in massive data collections.
