PROF ANNETTE MARKHAM

Annette Markham

Prof Annette Markham is an Affiliate of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S) from Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

Annette is a social media and digital culture researcher focused on the impact of digital transformations and datafication on identity formation and infrastructures for organizational practices. She holds specializations in internet research ethics, the social impact of algorithmic logics on social practices, critical pedagogy and arts-based interventions as social inquiry, citizen social science, and digital ethnographic approaches to understanding the relations of humans to technologies.

Prior to Utrecht University, Annette was a Professor of Media and Communication and Co-Director of the Digital Ethnography Research Centre at RMIT University.
