DANIELLE HYNES

Danielle Hynes is an Affiliate of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S) from the University of New South Wales.

Danielle is a social researcher and current UNSW Scientia PhD candidate. Danielle’s research explores social justice in cities, the present and future of non-market housing, and how ubiquitous datafication is impacting urban life. She is particularly interested in how discourses surrounding new technology in cities are shaping urban imaginaries, and who is included and excluded within the idea/ideal of the smart city.

Danielle has co-authored academic journal articles on topics including algorithmic governance, data justice and refusal, and smart policy in regional and rural Australia. She also co-led the UNSW Allens Hub Data Justice Research network throughout 2021 and 2022.
