Data Relations Exhibition and Summer School
Authors Leah Hawkins and Loren Dela Cruz
Date 10 February 2023
From Thursday 16 February to Monday 20 February 2023, the Australian Centre of Contemporary Art (ACCA) will be hosting a series of public performances, talks and conversations that wrestle with our contemporary data economy with presentations from several ADM+S researchers including Dr Thao Phan, Laura McLean and Prof Mark Andrejevic.
The event series constitutes the public program of ACCA’s Data Relations Summer School, which has been curated in collaboration with ADM+S Associate Investigator Dr Joel Stern, co-convened with James Parker, and presented with the support of the ADM+S Centre, The Ian Potter Foundation, RMIT School of Media and Communication, University of Melbourne, Australian Research Council (ARC), Capture All with Liquid Architecture x Sarai, ACMI and UNSW Sydney.
ACCA’s Summer School takes the Data Relations exhibition as a point of departure which features artist-led projects that lyrically wrestle with some of the key issues and challenges of our contemporary data-driven society.
“Data Relations is a timely, poetic, and speculative exploration of one of the major issues of our times,” writes Artistic Director and CEO Max Delany.
The exhibition is complemented by a dedicated digital publication featuring essays, interviews, artworks, and scripts by artists thinking critically and speculatively about what it means to live in a data-obsessed society.
Data Relations runs at ACCA from Saturday 10 December 2022 to Sunday 19 March 2023. Entry is free. See more details.
