DR FRANCES SHAW

Dr Frances Shaw  is an Affiliate of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society from Swinburne University of Technology.

Her recent work has focused on the relationships between technology and health, digital health activism and advocacy, technology ethics, and digital healthcare. She is working on a project investigating data capabilities in the not-for-profit sector. 

She has previously held appointments at the Australian Research Centre for Sex, Health & Society (telehealth during COVID-19), the Black Dog Institute (digital ethics of eHealth and mHealth), and at the University of Edinburgh (experiences of digital support for emotional distress at Samaritans UK). Her doctoral research was a qualitative study of digital feminist activism in Australia with a focus on health and embodiment.
