Judicial artificial intelligence in the pursuit of better access to justice and improved quality in judicial decision-making

Research Description
Nick’s research investigates the use of AI in judicial decision-making as a tool to improve access to justice and the quality of judicial decision-making.  He explores how AI might be deployed in judicial decision-making to correct for the fallibility, bias and prejudice to which research has shown human judges may be vulnerable.  Is AI the antidote to these problems?  If so, how can AI be so deployed while protecting fundamental human rights and preserving natural justice?
