ADM+S Cultural Walk Tour Group

Summer School Cultural Walk in Melbourne

Author Sally Storey
Date 12 February 2022

On Wednesday 9 February, the ADM+S Centre welcomed 45 Melbourne-based students, researchers, and professional staff for a cultural walk of Birrarung Wilam (River Camp) with an experienced guide from the Koorie Heritage Trust. This walk provided insights into the rich history of our lands and a deeper understanding on this important gathering place for the Kulin nation. Attendees also had the opportunity to network over refreshments and canapés at Mabu Mabu—a Torres Strait owned and run business on a mission to put Indigenous ingredients in kitchens across Australia.

ADM+S Centre Director Distinguished Professor Julian Thomas said “This was a great opportunity and a perfect location for ADM+S Melbourne colleagues to meet each other, talk about our research, and learn more about the extraordinary history of the special place where we work. We’re all really looking forward to being able to extend these events to colleagues in Sydney and Brisbane.”
