Thesis Title
Responsible AI in Space
Research Description
The use of AI in the space sector is both a challenge and an opportunity. Challenges include protecting the rights of all stakeholders in the harvesting of data sourced from outer space operations. Opportunities include the ability to provide control systems that enhance traffic safety in outer space.
Thomas’s research investigates the applications of AI in outer space and what implications they have. The project aims to create a regulatory framework based on the needs of consumers, industry, and government to ensure that the AI systems in question are being developed and deployed in a responsible, ethical, and sustainable way. The framework intends to provide protection for individuals as well as guidance to industry so that organizations can create AI systems that follow world leading standards and avoid unintended harm.
