TRENT MACDONALD

Dr Trent MacDonald is a Research Fellow at the RMIT University node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S).

Trent is a research fellow at the RMIT Blockchain Innovation Hub. He received his PhD in economics from RMIT University, having previously received a bachelor of economics with first class honours and a bachelor of business management from the University of Queensland.

Trent has an academic background in institutional and innovation economics, as well as industry experience as a data scientist conducting social and market research. He is interested in the political and economic implications and possibilities of new technologies; particularly in the areas of blockchain and cryptocurrency, privacy and surveillance, and artificial intelligence and automation. His current work is focused on empirical mapping and analysis of automated decision-making and algorithmic governance in the economy and society.
