Dr Jolynna Sinanan is a Senior Lecturer in Digital Anthropology and an Affiliate of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S) from the University of Manchester.
Dr Jolynna Sinanan has an interdisciplinary background in anthropology and development studies and has published widely on digital media practices and intergenerational mobilities, family relationships, work and gender.
She has developed an international research profile around comparative ethnographic studies of digital practices and infrastructures across cultural and social contexts in the Asia-Pacific, the Caribbean and South Asia.
Her current research focuses on developing a long term ethnography of the Everest tourism industry and visual anthropological approaches to investigate unfolding futures.
