Tsinghua University student delegation visits ADM+S to explore AI and future collaboration

The ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S) recently welcomed a delegation of student researchers from Tsinghua University, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas on the social implications of AI and explore future opportunities for collaboration.
The 15 students from L.E.A.P. Wuqiong College at Tsinghua University, are from one of China’s leading AI-focused institutions. The delegation learned about the Centre’s interdisciplinary approach to understanding and shaping the impact of automated decision-making technologies on society.
Sally Storey, ADM+S Manager, Research Training and Development, opened the visit with an introduction to the Centre, outlining the ADM+S structure, research programs and commitment to research training. Her presentation highlighted how ADM+S brings together expertise across the humanities, social sciences, law, computer science to investigate the complexities of automated decision-making.
The delegation was led by Chief Investigator Professor Haiqing Yu, who hosted a roundtable discussion with several researchers from the ADM+S RMIT node.
“This is another international outreach initiative in the Centre, creating future opportunities for collaboration in research and education with one of the world’s leading universities,” said Haiqing.
“A wide range of topics were discussed, ranging from AI imaginaries and impacts on jobs and work, to interdisciplinary and collaborative research on AI.”
The visit reflects the Centre’s ongoing commitment to creating international partnerships and opportunities for knowledge exchange with notable worldwide institutions.
