ADM+S at Melbourne Knowledge Week
Author Loren Dela Cruz
Date 3 May 2022
ADM+S researchers will feature in three events as part of Melbourne Knowledge Week 2022—an annual festival that brings Melburnians together to explore ideas and spark new ways of thinking to create a better tomorrow.
The first event on Tuesday 10 May will be a thought-provoking discussion on ‘Melbourne’s Future as a Digital City’ which will consider how new digital technologies and trends might shape Melbourne’s future. ADM+S Chief Investigator Professor Jason Potts will join an expert panel of RMIT University researchers to examine how current technology trends — such as working from home — are increasingly moving our economic and social activity online.
On Thursday 12 May, ADM+S Research Fellow Dr Thao Phan will host a creative workshop ‘Black (Rearview) Mirror‘ where participants are guided to imagine possible life scenarios with self-driving cars and automated vehicles (AVs).
Adult participants will also have the opportunity to visit ADM+S Student Anna Shimshak’s exhibition ‘Future Sex‘ over the course of the week. The exhibition is a unique example of human-computer interaction design which brings together art, robotics and gender studies to give participants a first-hand encounter with the future of technology use in sexual interactions.
With four nodes located in Melbourne, the ADM+S Centre is proud to be actively involved in the week-long celebration of the city’s rich heritage and potential for innovation.
