CASE STUDY

Scam Ads

In soon to be published research, the Ad Observatory project has identified more than one hundred unlawful scam ads showing photoshopped pictures of celebrities such as David Koch and advertising unlawful ‘get rich quick’ style scams.

These ads are clearly unlawful and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is currently seeking to take enforcement action against Meta for allowing ads like these to continue to appear in such numbers and causing such harm on their site.
