Distinguished media and communication scholar Professor Axel Bruns has been elected a Fellow of the International Communication Association (ICA), one of the highest honours awarded by the global association of communication researchers.

Fellow status in the International Communication Association (ICA) is a recognition of distinguished scholarly contributions to the broad field of communication.

“I am delighted to be awarded this honour from one of the leading scholarly communities in our field. This is a recognition not only of my own work but of the contributions of the many colleagues at ADM+S, DMRC, and elsewhere who have collaborated with me over the years. I would not be here without their support, and I look forward to continuing this work”, Prof Bruns said.

Election to ICA Fellow is based primarily on a documented record of scholarly achievement, with additional consideration given to service within ICA and contributions to wider sectors such as education, policy, and public engagement.

Fellows are nominated by their peers and must receive majority support from existing Fellows and final approval from the ICA Board of Directors.

A long-standing and active member of the ICA community, Professor Bruns’s work continues to inform critical debates about social media, communications, technology, and society. His election as ICA Fellow reflects the impact of his research and ongoing commitment to the field.
