OLEG ZENDEL
Dr Oleg Zendel is a Research Fellow at the RMIT University node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S).
AT ADM+S Oleg is working on the Australian Search Experience. His research centres on information retrieval (IR), with a particular emphasis on search systems, query variability, and the evaluation of information access systems. Dr. Zendel explores how end-to-end search pipelines and user behavior analysis can optimize system performance and improve user experience.
He earned his PhD from RMIT University, where he advanced the understanding of query performance prediction (QPP) through empirical experimentation, statistical analysis, and machine learning. He also holds an M.Sc. from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he focused on enhancing QPP using external reference queries, and a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management from the same institution.
Beyond academia, Oleg volunteers with Guide Dogs Victoria, having previously served as a puppy raiser and currently as a temporary carer.
