FREDERIC RAUTURIER

In memory of Frederic Rauturier
Fred was in the final year of his PhD in RMIT’s School of Media and Communication, examining the disruptive nature of global subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platforms on French media. As a passionate defender of French culture and cultural production, Fred was exploring the challenges SVODs present for France’s national media, as well as the opportunities they open up for local content to reach international audiences.
His achievements and contributions to the Centre are deeply appreciated and remembered by his colleagues.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to Frederic’s family, friends, and colleagues at RMIT’s School of Media and Communication.
Fred was supervised by Rowan Wilken, Alexa Scarlata, Julian Thomas and Ramon Lobato.
“Fréd was a talented researcher, a valued colleague, and an expert on French cultural policies. His research on the pjatformization of France’s audiovisual industries addressed issues that are enormously important for our field. Fréd’s wisdom and good humour will be dearly missed — we were very lucky to have the chance to work with him.” Ramon Lobato
“Fréd’s work on the dramatic changes now sweeping screen culture in France revealed the complexities of our current phase of platform-driven transformation. We learnt a great deal from working with Fréd and will deeply miss his insight, energy and commitment.” Julian Thomas
