DR GISELLE NEWTON

Dr Giselle Newton is an Affiliate of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S) from the University of Queensland.

Dr Newton (she/her) is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Digital Cultures and Societies Hub, and Centre for Policy Futures at the University of Queensland. Giselle also holds an appointment as Adjunct Associate Lecturer at the Centre for Social Research in Health at UNSW, Sydney.

Giselle is a digital health sociologist. Giselle’s research explores how reproductive, genetic, contraceptive technologies (re)shape personal, peer and familial relationships and power dynamics with institutions and platforms. More broadly, Giselle is interested in examining experiences of everyday digital life particularly in relation to the agentic practices and situated (digital) contexts in/through which individuals feel supported, connected and belong.
