Jenny Kennedy is an Associate Professor in Media and Communication at RMIT University, Melbourne. She is a former recipient of an ARC Discovery Early Career Research Award (DECRA, 2020-2023) and is an Associate Investigator at the RMIT University node of ADM+S.
Jenny is a media scholar with expertise in the relational arrangements of technologies within the home. The focus of her current work is on digital inclusion of vulnerable populations, including families in low-income households, women in rural areas, and remote indigenous communities.
These include projects on the role of public investment in digital infrastructure in improving outcomes, and mapping digital inclusion for informed decision-making in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Her published work includes the books The Smart Wife: Why Siri, Alexa, and Other Smart Home Devices Need a Feminist Reboot (MIT Press 2020); Digital Domesticity: Media, Materiality, and Home Life (Oxford, 2020) and Digital Media, Sharing, and Everyday Life (2019).
