JESSIE LIU

Dr Jessie Liu is an Affiliate of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S) from Monash University.

Jessie Liu is sociologist of race, gender, and work with interests at the intersection of Feminist Science and Technology studies (STS), Asian studies, and Migration and Diaspora Studies.

She is currently a Research Fellow at the Emerging Technologies Research Lab where she critically examines the rise of cute home helping robots—and the promise these robots are said to offer households as helpers, carers, and companions. She has published in New Media and Society, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, and Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience. She completed her PhD in the School of Sociology at the Australian National University (ANU) in 2024.
