JULIANA CARRENO

Juliana is a PhD student at the Humanitarian Engineering Lab (RMIT University).

She has a multidisciplinary background with a master’s degree in International Development Practice and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. Her work has spanned the non-profit, private, and academic sectors.

Juliana is an engineer passionate about humanity. She strives to find ways in which emerging technology intersects with humanitarian action and development assistance.

In her doctoral research, she is investigating how we can better leverage emerging technologies, to not only provide aid to those experiencing vulnerability but to underpin their social agency, safeguard their rights and avoid exposure to increased danger.
