KLAUS GROEBNER

Thesis Title
Investigating the Transnational Spread of Far-Right Narratives on Facebook

Research Description

Klaus will build on the large amount of research examining how the far-right uses the internet to share their narratives and mobilise new members. Klaus’ thesis aims to apply social movement theory to investigate how information and narratives spread around the right-wing ecosystem on Facebook. His research will particularly focus on how these narratives cross over borders, trying to identify the key countries and online entities of the global right wing.

Klaus’ work will link to the Australian Ad Observatory project of the ADMS. The Screen Capture Tool developed by the members of this project, will allow Klaus to track news-sharing practices.
