Thesis Title
Capture All: A Sonic Investigation
Research Description
Capture All is a curatorial enquiry into ways in which sound and listening practices can critically analyse, and break, the recursive colonial patterns in data-driven governance that haunt and impact contemporary life in settler- and post-colonial countries. It is developed through a sustained engagement with a cohort of contemporary artists working with sound in Australia and India.
Laura McLean is a curator, writer, and researcher currently undertaking a PhD in Curatorial Practice at MADA, Monash University. Research: Laura’s research, Capture All, investigates the sonic through creative practice at a moment of accelerating data colonialism in Australia and India. Developed with Liquid Architecture (Melbourne) and Sarai-CSDS (Delhi), Capture All seeks to explore how experimental practices of sound and listening may be mobilised as resources for understanding and intervening in questions of power, capture, and extraction in these settler- and post-colonial contexts.
