- Teams work on identifying the “wicked problem” and the social groups affected by it. This needs to be finalised before the morning tea.
Roving mentors drop-ins: feedback on identified problems and groups and how to generate search queries.

- Teams aim to settle on a project and plan of action
- Begin work on identified groups: Explore how their “problems”, backgrounds, beliefs, or goals might shape their online search behaviours and the platforms they use. Using multiple methods – like mining online forums (e.g. Reddit), interviews, or other creative approaches – teams to generate contextualised search queries. For Google-based queries, the Australian Search Experience Project (subproject 2) will simulate searches and collect the first page of results after the wrap up of Day 1 and before the start of Day 2.
