He is currently pursuing a PhD at Western Sydney University, thesis titled ‘Survival of the weak, women with disabilities living in Rural Java: a Study of Lendah Kulon Progo Indonesia’.
This work focuses on women with disabilities in rural areas, where public facilities are highly limited, particularly in terms of mobility.
The availability of mobile phones, bike taxi service apps, WhatsApp, and other digital platforms certainly aids people with disabilities in their daily lives.
However, certain digital platforms, especially those with automated decision-making systems, often fail to meet their needs. For instance, bureaucratic processes that increasingly rely on apps and digital platforms can create significant challenges for women with disabilities in rural areas.
