Yuchen Song is an Affiliate of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S) from Monash University.
Yuchen Song is currently a Master by Research Training student at Monash University. Her research sits at the intersection of critical media industry studies, critical algorithm studies, and the political economy of communication. She investigates how algorithms are reshaping traditional cultural and creative industries, fostering new ones, and reconfiguring power structures, norms, practices, and dynamics within these fields.
Her work also explores how these transformations influence broader society, often in subtle and overlooked ways. She is particularly interested in how such processes are enabled, how media practitioners adapt to or resist them, and their wider implications.
Her previous work has been published in leading journals, including Media, Culture & Society and Feminist Media Studies.
