No One’s Just a Number

24 August @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm AEST

Based on the national scams awareness week theme of "No One's Just a Number" this discussion will emphasise the human experience behind scam victimisation and the importance of keeping people at the centre of prevention, policy and support initiatives.

Bringing together leading researchers fro QUT’s Centre for Justice, Digital Media Research Centre (DMRC) and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, this discussion will examine the intersection of technology, trust, media and digital inclusion in the context of contemporary scam risks.

The panel will examine how emerging technologies are reshaping the online environment, why some individuals and communities may be more vulnerable than others, and what can be done to build a more informed, resilient and supportive response to scams.

Facilitated by Cassandra Cross from QUT’s Centre for Justice and ADM+S.
