Policies & Procedures

CODE OF CONDUCT

By participating in this Hackathon, you agree to abide by the ADM+S Code of Conduct, Swinburne Culture and Integrity Policy, and by the rules of the Hackathon.

Collaborate kindly, exercise your best ethical and professional judgement, and treat others with respect. We welcome the participation of all attendees and are committed to being an inclusive and culturally safe environment. We encourage the use of inclusive language, making space for others to speak and ask questions, and showing respect for different viewpoints. We appreciate and celebrate that participants will bring different kinds of knowledge and expertise to this event.

Please note that this event will involve discussions about the consequences of imitation technology – such as images or identity being used without consent, experiences of a person’s likeness or representation being distributed on social media, or the use or misuse of cultural, racial, ideological, sexual, or other forms of representation. Discussions may also include experiences with scams and identity theft.

Participants are encouraged and welcome to share their own experiences and knowledge of imitation technology, which may include both positive and harmful examples. These conversations may be triggering. Respectful engagement is expected, along with an openness to the realities of what representation and identity protection mean for different people.

We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying, harassment or exclusionary behaviour in any form. This includes offensive comments, deliberate intimidation, violence or threats of violence, wilful disruption, inappropriate physical contact, inappropriate use of sexualised content, and unwelcome sexual advances. If you are subject to or notice any behaviours that go against this Code of Conduct, please contact a member of staff immediately. If any participant engages in harassing behaviours, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate. This includes warning the offender and expelling them from the Hackathon.

HACKATHON OUTCOMES RE-USE POLICY

By participating in the Hackathon, you also agree to the below terms about re-use of the hackathon material. Participants retain intellectual property ownership of the designs they produced through their participation in the Hackathon, along with their co-creators. Participants will be invited to submit their ideas, designs, concepts, or codes created during the Hackathon to be showcased on the ADM+S website and to be included in a subsequent report for the APO (Analysis & Policy Observatory).

The website and APO report will include the name of each project and the names of the participants involved in creating it. These materials will be provided under a Creative Commons licence that permits others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon these ideas, as long as the participants are credited as the original creators.

If using or building on the ideas generated collectively during the Hackathon, you must notify team members and give them the opportunity to collaborate or provide consent on use. You must also credit by name all members of the team and reference the 2026 ADM+S and Swinburne Social Innovation Research Institute Hackathon.

The webpage hosting team presentations, summary and name will include a citation that you can use as a reference for this. Please note that we will only share your materials if all participants on your team agree to this.
