Congratulations to ADM+S Associate Director Professor Jean Burgess from QUT who was inducted as a Fellow of the International Communication Association (ICA) at the ICA’s annual conference.
One of the most prestigious honours in the field of communications, the ICA Fellowship is primarily a recognition of distinguished scholarly contributions to the broad field of communication.
To be considered, candidates must be nominated by ICA members based on a documented record of outstanding scholarly achievement and secure a majority vote from ICA’s current Fellows.
“Over the past two decades Burgess has consistently been among the first to engage with the societal and scholarly implications of emerging digital media technologies and platforms, examining their roles in both public communication and everyday life. She has developed and taught new critical, computational and qualitative methodologies in this field, with notable examples including social media issue mapping, the platform biography, and the app walkthrough method,” said Prof Pablo J. Boczkowski, Chair of the ICA Fellows, in a recent announcement.
